Supercars is mimicing Nascar somewhat with its new championship format starting in 2025 with the change to win 3 cups and be crowned Supercars Champion at the Adelade 500 Grandfinal!
The new format includes a Sprint Cup featured at 8 events, an Enduro Cup featured at 2 events and the Finals featured at 3 events as outlined in the graphics* below.
It will enhance the spectacle as there are more opportunities for teams and drivers to win accolades and the finals will definately add excitement to an unknown championship winner but i do see why some might not like the idea as it takes away from the year long accumulate the most points to be crowned champion. I think its worth having a crack at and modify over the next few years as needed. I do think the Enduro Cup needs an extra round in there though… possibly Townsville.
